Terms of Service
Last updated: 12 June 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using BiasChecker.ai ("Service", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and BiasChecker.ai. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater.
These Terms apply to all visitors, users, subscribers, and others who access or use the Service.
2. Description of Service
BiasChecker.ai provides an AI media analysis utility, including a Chrome extension and related tools, for analyzing media content for potential bias, manipulation, and other issues. The Service includes:
- Web-based analysis tools for bias, manipulation, legal, scientific, moral, and historical issues
- Browser extensions for content analysis
- API access for developers
- Educational resources about media bias and manipulation
2.1 What This Service Does NOT Do
It is important to understand the limitations of our Service:
- No Fact-Checking: The Service does NOT verify the factual accuracy of statements. It only identifies patterns consistent with known bias, manipulation, or other issue types.
- No Editorial Judgment: The Service does not determine whether identified issues are "acceptable" or make judgments about what should or should not be published.
- No Professional Advice: The Service does not provide legal, scientific, medical, historical, or any other form of professional advice.
- Not a Censorship Tool: The Service is designed to inform readers about potential issues in content, not to suppress speech or content.
2.2 AI Disclaimer
The analysis provided by the Service is generated by artificial intelligence and is for informational and educational purposes only. You are interacting with an AI-powered system when you submit content for analysis, request summaries, or view generated results. You acknowledge and agree that:
- Analysis results should NOT be considered definitive, authoritative, or factual
- Results do NOT constitute professional, legal, scientific, medical, historical, or expert advice
- AI models have inherent limitations and may reflect biases from their training data
- Analysis may contain errors, inaccuracies, false positives, or miss certain issues
- Results should NOT be relied upon as the sole basis for any decisions
- The Service is NOT a substitute for your own critical thinking and judgment
You should use the analysis results as one of many tools in evaluating media content, alongside your own research and judgment.
2.2.1 Nature of Service and Limitation of Liability
BiasChecker.ai provides algorithmically generated analytical metrics and subjective assessments of web content for informational, educational, and critical review purposes only. These metrics represent automated AI-derived evaluations and do not constitute absolute factual declarations, professional endorsements, or statements that any publisher, author, article, or claim is definitively right or wrong.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. BiasChecker.ai is not liable for any inaccuracies, analytical errors, omissions, false positives, false negatives, scoring variations, model limitations, or other defects in generated metrics or assessments.
You remain responsible for independently evaluating any content you read and for deciding how much weight, if any, to give to the Service's automated analysis.
2.3 Nature of Analysis Results
You acknowledge and accept that analysis of bias, manipulation, legal, scientific, moral, and historical issues may produce results that:
- You personally disagree with or find objectionable
- Identify issues in content you support or agree with
- Reveal uncomfortable information or interpretations derived from the analyzed text
- Conflict with your own views, beliefs, political opinions, or moral values
- Challenge claims or narratives you believe to be true
By using the Service, you expressly agree that:
- Analysis results represent an AI interpretation and do NOT reflect the views, opinions, or editorial position of BiasChecker.ai
- You will NOT hold BiasChecker.ai liable for any offense, distress, upset, emotional harm, reputational damage, or any other negative consequence caused by analysis results
- Your disagreement with analysis results does not constitute grounds for any claim against BiasChecker.ai
- BiasChecker.ai does not endorse, validate, or take any position on the content analyzed or the issues identified
If you are likely to be offended by analysis that may identify issues in content you support, you should not use this Service.
2.4 Nature of Objective AI Analysis
The AI analysis provided by this Service is designed to be objective and emotionless. While this objectivity is the source of its analytical value, it also means the AI:
- Lacks contextual sensitivity: The AI does not understand social nuances, current events context, or the sensitivity of particular topics in ways humans naturally do
- May produce blunt assessments: Analysis may be direct or uncomfortable in ways that a human analyst might soften or frame more diplomatically
- Does not consider timing or appropriateness: The AI will analyze content without regard to whether such analysis is appropriate given current events or emotional circumstances
- May highlight uncomfortable truths: Objective analysis may reveal biases, manipulations, or issues that readers may not want to confront
The Value of Objectivity: Despite these characteristics, the emotionless nature of AI analysis provides genuine value by:
- Uncovering hidden meanings and unstated implications in text
- Identifying omissions and missing context that human readers might overlook
- Providing analysis free from human emotional biases or political allegiances
- Offering a consistent analytical framework across all content regardless of source
- Aiding fuller understanding of complex or emotionally charged topics
By using this Service, you accept that:
- The objective nature of AI analysis is both its strength and a source of potential discomfort
- Some analysis results may seem inappropriate, insensitive, or offensive given the context
- This is an inherent characteristic of objective AI analysis, not a defect in the Service
- You assume full responsibility for how you interpret and use the analysis results
2.5 Critical Nature of Analysis
BiasChecker.ai is specifically designed to identify potential weaknesses, biases, and issues in content. By its very nature, the Service adopts a critical and adversarial perspective when analysing text. You acknowledge and accept that:
- The analysis is intentionally critical: The Service is built to look for problems. This means results will naturally emphasise flaws, gaps, and potential issues rather than strengths or merits of the content
- Assessments may sound categorical: AI-generated analysis may express findings in definitive or strong language (e.g. "this claim is unsupported") even when the reality is more nuanced. This directness is a characteristic of the analytical approach, not a statement of absolute truth
- Not every flagged issue is a real problem: Because the Service errs on the side of caution, it may flag items that are, in context, perfectly reasonable. Use your own judgment to evaluate each finding
- Well-written content may still receive criticism: Even high-quality, well-researched content can contain subtle framing choices, missing perspectives, or structural patterns that the Service will highlight. This does not mean the content is "bad" — it means there are aspects worth considering
- Humorous analysis modes (e.g. the Roast) use comedy to highlight issues: These modes are designed to be lighthearted and entertaining. The humour targets the writing and reasoning, never individuals or victims. However, comedy is subjective and some users may find the tone too direct
The critical nature of the analysis is a feature, not a flaw — it is what makes the Service useful as a tool for deeper reading. However, results should always be interpreted as one perspective to consider, not as a final verdict on the content.
2.6 Content Processing and Data Storage
When you submit content for analysis:
- We operate an AI media analysis utility via a Chrome extension and related services
- Our analysis backend database completely isolates and stores only numerical metrics and abstract structural instruction maps needed to provide, secure, audit, and improve the Service
- No copyrighted text, quotes, or article snippets are ever cached, stored, or processed on our backend servers
- All visual text citations are handled transiently and rendered strictly on-the-fly within the user's local browser memory
- Analysis results may be reconstructed or reused from stored numerical metrics and abstract structural instruction maps when the same or substantially similar public content is analysed again
- Separate account, billing, security, and abuse-prevention systems may store non-content operational records needed to operate paid accounts, subscriptions, credits, authentication, and service security
For details on data retention and your rights regarding stored data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
2.7 Service Evolution: Models, Analysis Types & Features
We strive to deliver the best possible service to you. BiasChecker.ai is built on rapidly evolving AI technology, and keeping the Service at its best means continuously improving it — adopting better models as they become available, refining analysis methodologies, and retiring approaches that have been superseded. It also means adapting to changes outside our control, such as third-party AI providers deprecating models, changing pricing, or restricting availability.
To that end, you acknowledge and agree that we reserve the right, at any time, where we consider it necessary to improve the Service or to respond to circumstances outside our control, to:
- Change AI models: add, update, upgrade, substitute, rename, deprecate, or remove any AI model offered through the Service, including changing the underlying model version or provider behind a model alias
- Change analysis types: add, modify, consolidate, split, rename, or retire analysis types, and change the structure, categories, fields, scoring methodology, severity classifications, or presentation of analysis results
- Change credit multipliers and defaults: adjust the credit multiplier assigned to any model, the default model for any plan, and the credit cost classification of analyses (for example based on content length)
- Change features: add, modify, or remove features of the extension, website, API, or other access methods
As a consequence of such changes:
- Analysis results may differ over time, including for the same content, as models, prompts, and methodologies evolve
- Previously cached or stored results may be regenerated, restructured, or no longer available in their original form
- If a model or analysis type you have used or selected is removed, your requests may be served by the default or closest equivalent option, and saved preferences referencing removed options may be reset
Your subscription or credit purchase entitles you to use the Service as it exists from time to time, with the quota or credits associated with your plan. It does not entitle you to the continued availability of any specific AI model, model version, analysis type, result format, scoring methodology, or feature. Such changes do not constitute a breach of these Terms, a defect in the Service, or grounds for compensation, except where mandatory consumer protection laws provide otherwise.
Where a change materially reduces the core functionality of a paid plan, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice through the Service or by email. Unused credits remain usable with the then-current model and analysis lineup until they expire in accordance with their terms.
2.8 International Data Transfers & Storage Retention
To support our global application infrastructure, BiasChecker.ai securely hosts individual user analysis dashboards utilising Amazon Web Services (AWS) secure server infrastructure located in the United States. This transatlantic data transfer is fully protected and compliant under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the AWS Data Processing Addendum incorporating Standard Contractual Clauses.
We retain your individual analytical evaluation metrics for as long as your account remains active to populate your personal dashboard. To practise data minimisation, your historical data records will be permanently and automatically purged from our servers following 180 consecutive days of account inactivity.
3. Service Availability
We are committed to providing reliable access to the Service and utilize industry-standard cloud infrastructure designed for high availability. However, you acknowledge and agree that:
- The Service is provided on an "as available" basis
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted, continuous, or error-free access
- We may perform scheduled or emergency maintenance that temporarily affects availability
- Third-party service providers, internet connectivity, and factors beyond our control may affect availability
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, including the changes to models, analysis types, and features described in Section 2.7
We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
4. User Accounts
To access certain features of the Service, you may be required to create an account. You can sign in using your Google account through our secure authentication system.
When you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain and promptly update your account information
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
- Accept full responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
- Not share your account or allow others to access your account
We reserve the right to suspend, disable, or terminate accounts at our sole discretion, including for violations of these Terms or for any reason we deem necessary to protect the Service or other users.
5. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation
- Infringe upon or violate the rights of others, including intellectual property rights
- Submit content unless you own it, have permission to use it, or otherwise have a lawful basis to submit it for analysis
- Submit confidential, proprietary, trade-secret, classified, highly sensitive, or legally restricted content unless you are fully authorized to do so
- Submit special-category personal data, personal data about children, payment card data, health records, government identifiers, or other sensitive personal information unless you have all legally required rights, notices, and consents
- Submit false, misleading, defamatory, or fraudulent content
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or computer systems
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable burden on the Service or its infrastructure
- Use automated systems, bots, scrapers, or similar tools to access the Service without express permission
- Collect, harvest, or store personal data of other users
- Use the Service to transmit malware, viruses, or other malicious code
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair the Service
- Use the Service to build products or services that directly compete with BiasChecker.ai without our prior written consent
Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in immediate termination of your access to the Service and may subject you to legal liability.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
The Service, including its original content, features, functionality, software, text, graphics, logos, and trademarks, is owned by BiasChecker.ai and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of any content you analyse with the Service ("User Content"). By using the Service with User Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process User Content transiently in the user's local browser memory and to generate, transmit, store, display, and use non-text numerical metrics and abstract structural instruction maps solely as necessary to provide, secure, audit, maintain, and improve the Service.
User warranty. You represent and warrant that you own, control, are licensed to use, or otherwise have a lawful right to submit User Content to the Service and to authorize its processing by us and our service providers. You further represent and warrant that your submission and use of User Content will not infringe copyright, database rights, trade secrets, privacy rights, confidentiality obligations, contractual restrictions, or any other third-party rights.
You are solely responsible for the User Content you submit and for any decision to share, publish, or rely on analysis results. We do not verify that you have rights to submitted content and are not responsible for User Content submitted without authorization.
AI-generated outputs may visually reference portions of User Content in your browser for context, but those citations are handled transiently and rendered on-the-fly within local browser memory. You must use outputs lawfully and must not republish them in a way that violates third-party rights or applicable law.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL BIASCHECKER.AI, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, PARTNERS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR:
- ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US, IF ANY, IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM; OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
9. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless BiasChecker.ai, its officers, directors, employees, agents, partners, suppliers, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to:

- Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations
This indemnification obligation shall survive the termination of these Terms and your use of the Service.
10. Dispute Resolution
Informal Resolution: Before initiating any formal proceedings, you agree to first contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally by sending a written notice describing the dispute to our contact address. We will attempt to resolve the dispute within 30 days.
EU Online Dispute Resolution: If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may be entitled to refer disputes to the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. However, please note that we are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution procedures before a consumer arbitration body.
Jurisdiction: Subject to any mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction that may provide otherwise, any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in the Netherlands.
Consumer Rights: Nothing in these Terms shall affect your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable law, including any mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence within the European Union.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service may contain links to or integrate with third-party websites, services, or applications that are not owned or controlled by BiasChecker.ai. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party services.
Our Service uses third-party providers including Google for authentication, Paddle for payments, AWS for cloud infrastructure and Bedrock models, OpenAI for ChatGPT API models, xAI for Grok models, Google for Gemini models, and other providers that help us operate the Service. Your use of such third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service, privacy policies, API terms, usage policies, and availability constraints.
Our backend servers do not cache, store, or process copyrighted article text, quotes, or article snippets. Provider integrations and analysis backend systems are designed around non-text numerical metrics and abstract structural instruction maps, while visual citations remain local-browser transient.
We use business/API versions of AI services where available and configure providers according to their applicable API terms. However, third-party providers may change their services, terms, data handling practices, geographic processing locations, model behavior, pricing, or availability over time.
You acknowledge and agree that BiasChecker.ai shall not be responsible or liable for any damage or loss caused by your use of any third-party services.
12. Force Majeure
BiasChecker.ai shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, strikes, shortages of transportation, facilities, fuel, energy, labor, or materials, failure of third-party service providers, internet or telecommunications failures, or government actions.
13. Subscriptions, Billing & Refunds
Paid plans are sold as recurring subscriptions billed by our payment processor, Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), which acts as the merchant of record. By subscribing you agree to Paddle's Buyer Terms in addition to these Terms.
Free trial. The free trial is offered to new users only and is limited to one trial per person. If you have previously held a paid subscription with us, you are not eligible for a further trial. The trial expires when its included quota is used or after 14 days, whichever comes first.
Billing cycles. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current rate, unless cancelled. The amount and currency of each charge are shown at checkout and on each invoice.
Plan upgrades. When you upgrade to a higher tier mid-cycle, the change takes effect immediately. Paddle will issue a prorated charge for the unused portion of your current billing period at the difference between the two tiers, applied immediately.
Plan downgrades. Switching to a lower tier requires you to cancel your current subscription first. Your current plan continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. No refund or credit is issued for the current billing period. Once the period ends, you may subscribe to the lower tier at any time.
Cancellation. You may cancel at any time via the customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you continue to have access until then. No partial refunds are issued for the unused portion of the current billing period.
Refunds. Except where required by mandatory consumer-protection laws, all fees are non-refundable. If you reside in the European Union and exercise your statutory right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive, you acknowledge that by accessing the Service immediately upon subscribing you expressly request that performance begin during the withdrawal period and accept that you lose your right of withdrawal once the Service has been fully provided.
Payment failures. If a renewal payment fails, we may suspend or downgrade your access until payment is brought current. Repeated failures may result in cancellation of the subscription.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices on at least 30 days' notice via email or in-app notification. Price changes take effect at the start of your next billing period. Continuing to use the Service after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.
Credit consumption changes. The number of credits or tokens consumed by an analysis depends on the selected model's credit multiplier and the analysis cost classification, both of which may change as described in Section 2.7. Changes apply prospectively to analyses run after the change; credits already deducted are not recalculated. Purchased credits are a prepayment for future use of the Service as it exists at the time of use, not a guarantee of a fixed number of analyses with any specific model.
14. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms.
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Service will immediately cease
- We may delete your account and any associated data
- You remain bound by any accrued obligations under these Terms
All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to: intellectual property provisions, warranty disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution.
15. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. If a revision is material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect.
What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion. Notice may be provided by posting the updated Terms on the Service, by email, or by other reasonable means.
By continuing to access or use the Service after any revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service.
16. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you will also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms affects your rights as a consumer to rely on such mandatory provisions of local law.
17. General Provisions
Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other legal notices published on the Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and BiasChecker.ai regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, or if modification is not possible, severed from these Terms. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative of BiasChecker.ai.
Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
Electronic Communications: By using the Service, you consent to receiving electronic communications from us. You agree that all agreements, notices, and other communications provided electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
18. Content Creators & Publishers
BiasChecker.ai enables individual users to analyse content they access through their own browsers. Users have the right to read and form opinions about content they receive — our tool assists with that process.
We do not publish, redistribute, reproduce, cache, store, or process full article content, quotes, or article snippets on our backend servers. We do not operate public ranking systems that identify publishers by name. Analysis results are generated for the individual user who requested them from numerical metrics and abstract structural instruction maps, while any visual text citations are handled transiently in that user's local browser memory.
If you are a publisher, author, or rights holder with a concern about BiasChecker.ai's methodology, data handling, copyright, confidentiality, or a specific verifiable factual error in an analysis, please contact us with enough information to identify the content and the issue. We will review credible notices and may correct, remove, restrict, or disable access to specific results where appropriate.
Notices should identify the allegedly affected work or analysis, explain the legal or factual basis for the concern, provide your contact details, and confirm that the information in the notice is accurate. Repeated abusive or unsupported notices may not receive an individual response.
